Exhibition and book launch - 'Round About or Inside'

16 Oct 2021

Round About or Inside explores how artists from multiple geographic and cultural contexts approach the spaces and sites that mark our lives. Curated by Wouter Davidts, Ghent University, and Angela Goddard, Director of Griffith University Art Museum, with exhibition architecture by Ashley Paine, the exhibition includes work by Paul Bai, Elizabeth Djakurrurr, Valérie Mannaerts, Philip Metten, Archie Moore, Yukultji Napangati, Brian O'Doherty, Sarah Oppenheimer, Steve Van den Bosch.

The opening night of the exhibition also marks the launch of new book Valuing Architecture: Heritage and the Economics of Culture. Bringing together a collection of essays by international scholars, heritage is used as a lens through which to interrogate the value of architecture, shaped as it is through the intersection of cultural and economic forces.

Round About or Inside is supported by the research project 'Is Architecture Art? A history of concepts, categories and recent practices' funded by the Australian Research Council and The University of Queensland's School of Architecture / Architecture Theory Criticism History Research Centre (ATCH), in partnership with Ghent University.
