About the school

Professor Ali CheshmehzangiThe University of Queensland's School of Architecture, Design and Planning is a national leader in architectural education and research.

We first offered courses in Architecture in 1937 and now offer comprehensive programs focused on socially responsible design for a sustainable future. Our students are given a hands-on learning experience, where creativity and problem solving are encouraged and where the latest technology advancements and awareness of global social issues is inherent. Our studio spaces are a thriving hub of activity, fostering animated discussions in a nurtured learning environment.

In all our activities, we are committed to the improvement of the built environment around us, and are categorically aware of the role that design can play for future generations.

The School actively engages with a cross-section of industry partners, diverse communities and a range of professions in its research and learning so that its activities can have meaningful impact beyond the University and its surrounds.
