Modern university campuses created unprecedented opportunities for the realization of innovative solutions in urban planning, architecture and landscape. This interdisciplinary project will be the first comprehensive examination of the post-WWII evolution of the Australian campus.

The physical impacts of political, institutional, social and cultural demands will be revealed through comparative thematic investigation, digital visualization and detailed case studies.

The study is timely and significant. Foregrounding landscape and site, it will establish new historical knowledge, identify campuses as catalysts for urban thinking, and demonstrate strategies for their conservation and adaptation to meet future needs in a vital tertiary sector.
