Discussions centred on current UQ VisLab research into bio-based materials for architecture and the built environment, including bio-derived pigments and colour-based material samples, as well as algae–clay building components produced through robotic additive manufacturing. The group also exchanged ideas on augmented reality-guided timber assembly and digital twin research, considering how these emerging approaches could support future research and industry collaboration.

The VisLab session formed part of a wider UQ facilities tour, which also included the Fire Lab and the Timber Hub, followed by discussions on broader partnership and project opportunities.
