Progress Reviews

Read the School of ADP's guidelines and download any school-specific documentation you need if applicable.

The UQ Graduate School monitors the progression and development of all PhD and MPhil candidates via an assessment framework of ‘progress reviews’.

This approach aims to:

  • Monitor candidates' progression and development at specific points of candidature
  • Identify any issues that impact progression and facilitate improvements
  • Facilitate candidates receiving feedback from academics who are not members of the advisory team
  • Record any issues/concerns

Visit the Graduate School website for an overview of the progress review framework

Ethics, integrity and compliance approvals

Students conducting research involving human subjects must obtain UQ research ethics approval before commencing that aspect of the research. This covers any HDR project involving either structured or formal interviews, or collecting data that includes personal information.

Background and preparatory work, such as contacting experts in a field, does not require ethical clearance.  Rather it just requires you to observe normal academic ethics, such as getting consent to quote from other’s ideas.

Students and their advisors should consult the UQ Research Ethics website, for relevant policies and guidelines.

Personal Profiles

ORCID ID and Google Scholar profiles are important sources to connect your research across organisations – we highly recommend setting these up for your career. These identifiers draw in data about your work to your UQ eSpace profile.

  • ORCID ID - HDR's must register an ORICID ID with UQ by the early candidature checkpoint progress review. Information can be found here
  • HDR profile - your School of ADP profile is important for enhanced visibility within the HDR space and also for potential future projects and employment, both at UQ and beyond. Please email the office for assistance - office@adp.uq.edu.au
  • Google Scholar - A Google Scholar profile enables you to keep track of citations to your articles and provides an online presence for your scholarly work. Add this to your ORCID profile - information can be found here.
