About

D³ Living Lab explores the intersections of Digital, Data and Design in architecture, planning, urban systems and the built environment.

It responds to the growing need for integrated approaches that combine digital technologies, data-informed methods and creative design practice.

The Lab provides a platform for applied experimentation, evidence-based innovation and impact-driven research. It supports collaborative activity across research, teaching, engagement and partnerships, with a focus on developing more sustainable, resilient and equitable cities and built environments.

The Lab is structured around three interconnected research clusters:

  • Digital: emerging technologies, digital twins, simulation environments, AI and technology-enabled urban solutions.
  • Data: data analytics, modelling, forecasting, visualisation, spatial analysis and geospatial methods.
  • Design: co-design, design-led research, prototyping, design innovation and translation into policy and practice.

Together, these clusters provide a framework for cross-disciplinary collaboration and the development of research outputs, events, seminars, training activities and external partnerships.
