Watson and McKay have undertaken years of research to identify hundreds of architects and related practitioners who practised in what is now Queensland from the beginning of European settlement until the economic downturn of the late nineteenth century. Their lives and some of their works are recorded in succinct entries illustrated with mostly contemporary images.
This book is a major revision of the authors’ earlier book, Queensland Architects of the 19th Century: A Biographical Dictionary, published in 1994 and long since out of print. It incorporates new information, covers a wider range of building types, and traces full careers, even if they spanned the early twentieth century.
