Engineering, Design and Computing School Holiday Program 2025
Across four immersive days, students in Years 9–10 will experience what it’s like to think, create and problem-solve like engineers, architects, designers, planners and computing professionals. Facilitated by expert lecturers and friendly UQ Student Ambassadors, this hands-on program provides real insight into future careers, while exploring UQ’s cutting-edge engineering, design and computing precinct.
On Day 2, the Architecture, Design and Urban Planning workshop will explore "Designing for Resilience: Climate Ready Homes for Queenslanders."

School Holiday Program workshop – Designing for Resilience: Climate Ready Homes for Queenslanders
Step into the role of architect, engineer and urban planner in this fun, hands-on workshop where you’ll design and build a model home ready to take on Queensland’s toughest weather challenges.
What You’ll Do:
Build a Model Home: Use a range of materials to create your own miniature house.
Put It to the Test: Challenge your design against simulated floods and high winds using our custom-built testing rig.
Explore Sustainability: Learn how your choice of materials impacts the environment and construction costs.
