Research exhibition 'Purpose Built: Architecture for a better tomorrow'
Purpose Built: Architecture for a better tomorrow examines how new approaches to design and building materials can have a transformative effect on how buildings and communities meet the challenges of the future. The exhibition, a joint initiative of the School of Architecture, Design and Planning, and the State Library if Queensland, pairs research-driven perspectives on the future of the built environment with State Library Collection content exploring Queensland's built heritage.
Research included in the exhibition includes sustainable approaches to timber construction that explore novel forestry management and manufacturing approaches; the value of community consultation in indigenous housing design; the possibilities of digtial twins at the suburb scale; strategies for future-proofing Brisbane's middle-ring suburbs; and sustainable building materials employing 3D robotic printing.
Purpose Built: Architecture for a better tomorrow is open at slq Gallery from 02 September 2023 - 14 April 2024.
