Connecting with our history through heritage-listed buildings

Regional Queensland is home to a wealth of heritage buildings and iconic landmarks that reflect Australia's history and cultural identity – from apartment buildings to council chambers, beach pavilions and lighthouses.

Professor John Macarthur recently spoke with The Courier Mail about the value and processes of heritage-listed buildings, highlighting how heritage listings help communities connect with their own history.

He said that if a building is listed on a council or state register, it’s gathering people’s attention not only to a place, but also to other values connected with the past, and this builds a sense of community.
