Blurrd End of Year Exhibition 2022

9 December 2022

On Friday 2 December, the School of Architecture hosted its end-of-year exhibition Blurrd, highlighting the exceptional work of the graduating Bachelor of Architectural Design and Master of Architecture cohorts.

It was a wonderful celebration of student work with the company of many student's families, our valued industry guests and staff of the University of Queensland. The Under Currents band led by graduand Hal Chandler, enlivened the activation of Jocks Rd, where a number of food trucks provided guests with a multicultural selection of food offerings.  Lit up in green hues, the Advanced Engineering Building provided the perfect location for this sophisticated exhibition of student work.

Since 2019 the annual summer exhibition has provided the graduating cohort with a sense of agency and self-determination to exhibit their achievements to their peers, industry partners, families and friends as a student collective. This year's co-curators, Sionnan Gresham and Thomas Webster, in conjunction with the exhibition committee, selected Blurrd as the thematic device of the exhibition. This theme reflects on the pluralistic position the architect and profession often occupies.

Showing their awareness of social issues, the student curation team made a commitment to use this opportunity to give back to the community.  Guests were invited to give to the Second Chance Programme that raises awareness of the plight of homeless women and their children.

The School of Architecture is proud to provide students with this opportunity to engage with the profession and sincerely thanks our valued Student Culture and Experience Fund supporters BVN, Nettletontribe, Rothelowman, bureau^proberts, m3architecture and 77 Architecture whose generous contributions help progress and energise the School through endeavours such as this annual event.
