Researcher biography

Islam is a building engineer with research interests in Building Information Modelling (BIM), Building Energy Performance Simulation and Design Optimisation. He completed his PhD in computational architectural design and digital design workflow optimisation at the school of Architecture and Built Environment, Faculty of Engineering, QUT. Islam has co-authored and published more than 25 papers with more than 100 citations in research topics such as BIM and energy and daylighting simulation. He is one of the inventors listed on an international patent for a daylight device system. He also specialises in teaching both sustainable design and digital design communication using state-of-the-art technologies in architecture. He also holds a grant in improving computational design processes related to sustainability and energy efficiency in the building architecture learning environment. Islam has links to the Architecture, Engineering and Construction industry, where he works as an energy efficiency consultant in Australia and a BIM consultant for engineering and architectural firms in both Australia and overseas.
