eMbARCH Exhibition
In 2016 the Zelman Cowen building has undergone significant renovations, designed by m3architecture. We are excited to bring the exhibition back to the UQ St Lucia campus and show you our revamped building. Using our own exhibition spaces gives us more room for both display and celebrations, including live music, DJs, food trucks, and refreshments, plus an exhibition across three levels of the building.
The name eMbARCH refers to the unique moment when our students embark on the next stage of their architectural careers. Our graduates receive either a Bachelor of Architectural Design, [emBARCH] or a Master of Architecture [eMbARCH] so we seized the opportunity to incorporate these into the naming of the exhibition!
The Opening Night of eMbARCH, the UQ School of Architecture Exhibition, was held on Friday 25 November 2016 in the Zelman Cowen Building at the St Lucia campus.
eMbARCH is the most important event in the School’s calendar, bringing together students, practitioners and academic staff. It provides an opportunity for the Brisbane architectural community to review the work of our graduates in an atmosphere of celebration.
The eMbARCH exhibition showcased the work of the Master of Architecture graduating class through individual design research exhibits from a new, specially devised program of research, focused on design presentation, and culminating in an exhibit of their design work. A selection of work from our seven Masters design studios, incorporating both first and second year Masters students, and a selection of exemplary work from across the Bachelor of Architectural Design degree was also shown.
The School appreciates the many forms of support we receive from practitioners and practices, ranging from tutoring and guest lectures, to office and site visits, advice and much more. The eMbARCH exhibition is also our way of thanking the Brisbane architectural community for its support in 2016.
