On Friday 24 November, the School of Architecture, Design and Planning hosted the End of Year Exhibition, Final Draft, where we celebrated the extraordinary work of the graduating Bachelor of Architectural Design and Master or Architecture cohorts, as well as our first Bachelor of Design students!
The rainy weather managed to hold off just long enough for a beautiful evening, where students showcased their very best projects to their friends and families, as well as UQ staff and industry professional guests. The exhibition was hosted at Zelman Cowen, our home building, which brought plenty of nostalgia back for alumni, who had joined us for this very special event. We received so many project submissions for posters and model displays that the exhibition was spread out over two floors of the Zelman Cowen building, and allowed for plenty of social interaction around the CoLab and food trucks parked at the end of Jocks Rd. The event was opened by Associate Professor Antony Moulis, Head of School, School of Architecture, Design and Planning, Professor Deborah Terry AO, President and Vice-Chancellor, UQ, and the Exhibition Curators, before the doors were formally opened for attendees to peruse the exhibition throughout the evening.
With the growth of the School this year, the Student Exhibition Committee had four curators leading the creative direction of the event; Jesse Grant (Master of Architecture), Sophie Barrett (Master of Architecture), Charlie Shelton (Bachelor of Architectural Design) and Shideh Shasti (Bachelor of Design). This year's theme of Final Draft was a clear winner, as it was a familiar experience for both architecture and design students - the universal design experience of frantically saving your files as “final”, “FINALfinal”, “FINALfinal_final” and so on.
The School is proud to provide students with this opportunity to engage with the profession and sincerely thanks our valued Student Culture and Experience Fund supporters whose generous contributions help progress and energise the School through endeavours such as this annual student exhibition.
If you weren't able to attend on the night, the exhibition will be open in Level 2 and Level 3 of Zelman Cowen on Saturday 16 December 2023 until 3pm.
